Theme: Scrapbook of Memories Published by Taylor Publishing Co. Dedication You have truly been a great asset to the school and to the students of Leesville High School as a teacher, assistant principal, and as advisor of the student council. It takes a special kind of person to be, not only a good teacher but also a teacher re- spected by his students. This feel- ing of confidence in youth and re- spect you have shown in us has earned for you the title “a good teacher, a true friend.” Because of your dedication to youth it is our privilege to dedicate the Wampus Cat Year- book to you ... MR. KIMBLE MARLER Juicfiny . Our Principal Recalls Memories WAMPUS CAT STUDENT BODY: The 1969-70 school year closed out the sixties and embarked the seventies. We have witnessed one of man’s greatest achievements - the landing on the moon. The coming decade proves to be just as exciting and challenging, and your generation will play a very active and responsible roll in its development. We have had a tremendous school year. I feel that each of you was a most significant part of this success and there were a thousand this year to share in this acclaim. Our school has been a unified body with each student assuming a part of the responsibility. You have en- countered one of lifes experiences - to give and to take. To be able to take as well as to give is an unselfish and human quality that enables us to understand, appreciate and respect others. In closing, I would like to extend to each of you my heartfelt appreciation for your coopera- tion, understanding of school policy, and willingness to share in a common goal - a school, Leesville High School, that we, our parents, and our community are proud to identify with. Tom LeBleu represented LSH at Boys’ State. Pelican Staters were very helpful on election day. This year LHS adopted the two-party system in electing student council offi- cers. Each homeroom was given a state name and the student body was divided into the Nationalists and Federalists par- ties. Party conventions were held and then there was a general assembly for all students. Pelican State proved to be valuable training in developing this system. Lin- da wrote the plans, and all three girls worked at the voting machines on elec- tion day.
