Before tomorrow's fast-closed gate Helpless 1 stand—in vain to pray! In vain too sorrow! Only the key of yesterday Unlocks tomorrow. —Author Unknown Contents Dedication You have been an integral part of the life at Leesville High School since you entered as a freshman. After graduation, college and a few years later you returned to make L.H.S. a better place to work and play, because as a student you realized the needs of a growing school. You have always been interested in the student life of L.H.S. When Homecoming rolled around, you were there to help work on class floats. The success of the Junior-Senior prom was made possible through your help. Not only are you active in the social world of the students, but also in their aca- demic life. Through your ability to teach math and science our knowledge of educational essentials and life has been furthered. Aside from giving us the knowledge of books, you are a friend to us all. MR. JOHN YOUNG DEMPSEY For all these reasons and more, we dedi- cate the 1966-67 WAMPUS CAT to you— MR. JOHN YOUNG DEMPSEY. Editor's Our year was a very busy one, solving prob- lems and opening new doors each day to a new and different way of life. As you turn through the pages of the 1966-67 Wampus Cat, I hope that you can recall old experiences and add new ones of your own. I should like to thank you for giving me the privilege of working for you and a special thanks to the yearbook staff for its cooperation and a job well done. As you look through these pages, may they remind you of doors you have passed through. May you realize these portals opened new avenues of opportunity and responsibility in adult life. May I paraphrase the theme of our 1966-67 WAMPUS CAT and say, Education Opens Doors. Education, the experiences of life, is the key to the opportunities of your generation. The ex- periences, both academic and non-academic, of your secondary education are the most vital of your educational process. It is my impression, as your principal, that you have prepared yourselves to accept the challenges for the opportunities of your generation. You have studied, played, cooperated and proved time and time again that you are prepared for the vast opportunities that have never been offered another generation. I feel the doors of opportunity are there to be opened, therefore, go forth --, you are students of Leesville High School. Besides signing admits, supervising the lunch room, excusing students when ill, and assisting with the operation of the school, Mr. Paris is a friend to us all. MR. TED PARIS Assistant Principal A friend in need is a friend indeed, an old saying, clearly symbolizes Mr. Jack Bostwick, our Guidance Counselor. Anytime we have personal problems, need aid with our present studies or guidance with our future endeavors he is always around to lend a helping hand. We appreciate your helping us to think for ourselves, to recognize our rights of individuality and respect those who train our minds. MR. JACK BOSTWICK Guidance MRS. RACHEL MOSS MRS. It records people and events not merely in terms of the observable in the classroom and at recreation, but it also reveals much of the deeper meaning that high school graduation and training can have in the lives of boys and girls. The warmhearted feeling and fine professional spirit demonstrated by teachers and stu- dents in your school is an inspiration to all of us. I realize, too, that this remarkable achieve- ment cannot be accomplished without cooperation and leadership ability.
