Editor's Message Memory is a fragile thing-- A bee’s honey and its sting! Newton With the passing years you will turn through these pages and recall scenes you saw, things you heard, and words you read. You will realize how your days at Leesville High were filled with memories you will cherish forever. They will produce honey” and stings”. Because many of our students are military dependents who come and go, the rest of the student body must make them feel welcome. It takes “harmony to help these people be a part of UH.S. Changing principals at mid-semester re- quired the efforts of all students to keep Lees- ville High a better place to work and play. Harmony” helped us through the transition. Harmony between the academic and extracur- ricular helped us make a bigger and better name for L.H.S. Our candidate for a state Beta office placed in the top three, our Speech team won first in state, our musical groups rated high at festivals, our students won top honors at literary rallies, our athletic groups re- ceived recognition for a fine job, and one of our fac- ulty members was appointed to a State Advisory Council. Throughout the 1966 Wampus Cat you will see how Harmony Reigns At Leesville High School Through The Help Of The Students And The Community” for 687 students. It has been an honor and privilege to edit the 1966 Wampus Cat. I hope you enjoy the pictures and writings, and may relive the honey” and stings”. May God bless and keep you. Linda Johnson Editor 4

Dedication MRS. IMELDA WATSON It is an honor to pay tribute to one who has become such a genuine part of Leesville High School. Her interest in her students and her eagerness to help them have endeared her to all who have come under her influence. Because she means so much to so many, we the yearbook staff are proud to dedicate the 1966 WAMPUS CAT to Mrs. Imelda Watson. Mrs. Watson is a native of Vernon Parish and graduated from Pickering High School. She received her B. S. Degree from North- western State College in Home Economics and has taught at Leesville High School for twenty years. Besides her outstanding work as a teacher, she sponsors the yearbook and F.H.A. She al- ways lends a helping hand at Homecoming. Christmas, Jr.-Sr. Prom, or with any other extra- curricular activities, and is chairman of the faculty flower and gift fund. She has served as president of Delta Kappa Gamma, an hon- orary women teachers’ society; holds a life membership in P.T.A.; and has served as chairman of the Vernon Parish Home Eco- nomics Teachers for curriculum development. By encouraging the students of Leesville High School to develop their talents, you have made their lives more enjoyable. For all these things we are grateful. There is a destiny that makes us brothers None goes his way alone. All that we send into the lives of others Comes back into our own. —Markham 3 Mrs. Watson supervises a class.
