Doris Luster 1946 . . . , Richard Driggers Clyde Gentry V. Pres. KU. S. Navyi President Paul Norman Betty J. Rountree V. President Secretary CLASS HISTORY Way way back in the ancient year of i934 a strange group of little figures crept timidly beside their mothers to the doors of learning. Who were they? ' Where were they going? Let's take a look! These figures were the first members of the noble class'-of '-46. There they were, shaking in their boots, all except Martha Burdine who stood with her intelligence popping out already, and Priss' Buck Jones Newell engaged in kicking some little boys football all over the yard. Billy Kilgore started out to be the Cassanova of our class but relinquished the title in the fourth arade to Dick Milham, who first appeared with his red hair and northern charm. ln the fifth grade, Judy James electrified the entire class by sporting a permanent wave. This started a beautifying craze, and soon all our little girls who were not blessed by Mother Nature with curly locks felt it necessary to patronize Ye Olde Beauty Salon. The fall of the following year brought with it our term as the big shots of the Elementary School and anxious hopes of holding those precious white diplomas in shaking hands. A reward well earned t?l. At last the fatal day had arrived, and on a bright Sept. Morning in l94O our class banged for admission at the doors of Leesburg High School. Would we make the next six years? Oh, yes indeed, we were quite confident, if it didn't require too much study. During our soiurn in the seventh grade we specialized in making ourselves heard above all others, but with the Corning of our 8th year in the quest for knowledge we lay aside childish ways, collected Jim DeVaney, and seriously began to study-dates! Freshmen! with Annette Alderman as our guide we ploughed through our-first real taste of high school life. Charles Sellar acquired a reputation as a scholar of Latin and at the some time Doris Luster became noted for her wit. 1 Priscilla Newell or Secreta ry Treasurer
