CLASS HISTORY Upon our arrival to L. H. S., we all wandered around the halls for weeks seeking our correct location. We battled through the seventh grade with Mary Jean Floyd as our able president. By the time we reached the eighth grade we were beginning to feel our importance to such an extent that Maggie Morrison came to school with lip stick on and Bampy had a real car date-unchaperoned. Our freshman year found Stelle Neal at the wheel for us. At last the tables had turned. For the first time the boys were chasing the girls, that is all except McCart, and he was still scared to death of a girl. Our Sophomore year submitted our first boy president, Howard Trumn. We felt quite grown up now and neglected when we didn't secure a Friday night date. Hello! What's this? Yes, Stu Gilchrist made his appear- ance at L. H. S. As we attained our rank as Juniors, we elected as our president Jean Windram. Our class rings arrived only to be exchanged for a Sub-deb pin or the like of it. What a Life , that memorable junior play, proved our talent and ability. The biggest surprise of the year was the wonderful prom-topping all previous ones given in L. H. S. Jim Matthews was chosen to wind up our twelve years of school life, with his staff, including, Vice-President Elaine Matthews, this able assist- antl Corresponding Secretary Shirley Wiley, Recording Secretary Jo. Jordan, and Treasurer Tilly Carra- way. Then of course, there was our Man of the Year , Stu Gilchrist, our student body president. All the girls started a new fad, Marriage! Making definite plans at least. Baxter left his street bench and offered his services to Uncle Sam. Bourlay and Newman, knowing a good thing when they saw it, ioined the class of '44, As time for graduation draws near, we aren't quite as anxious about it as we have been for the past twelve years. The class of '44 has had a wonderful time going through it all.
