CLASS HISTORY Shortly after sunnse on the mornmg of September 1 1944 we the Classof 48 txmldly but confxdently took our places as bemg the Freshmen of Leesburg We were fxlled wxth a strange awe, as to the sxtuatxons we would encounter during our I-hgh School days The antxcxpatlon we had m our hearts for years fxlled wxth work and fellowshxp made us feel lofty ami our chests swell We were mn Hzgh School at last Durmg that year there were sucteen members composed of Carole Edgar Vxrgmla Elhs Edna Hedxngton Barbara Longenecker Jams Metz, Juan1ta Mxller Melba Van dermark Wllllam Gross Richard Klopenstem Don Lozxer Joe Longenecker Law rence Sanderson Buddy Spencer Robert Stookey Richard Vanator and Vere W1ldman After three months of a fme vacation we, the last year s Freshmen journeyed back to Leesburg only to become Sophomores, a pos1t1on we were proud to hold lt was then we found three of our old members had left us namely Vere W1ldman Ed na Hedxngton and Buddy Spencer and ln thexr place we found Rzchard Allen and Charles Long Th1s gave us a class of flfteen members Just one smaller than the preceedmg year Then suddenly we realxzed we were .Tumors Agam two students left us these bemg V1rgm1a Ellls and Charles Long but shortly two others came to Joan us these bemg Norma Noggle and Ilene Yarger Ilene Yarger left us after several months because of slckness of whlch we were sorry Our class was then composed of four teen members, who were Lawrence Sanderson Ianxs Metz Melba Vandermark Nor ham Gross, Don Lozler Rlchard Vanator Robert Stookey Rxchard Allen, and Bar bara Longenecker Th1s group of s1x g1r1s and e1ght boys went on to make and b come the Sen1ors of 1948 In thls our fmal year our class under the direchon of Mr Longenecker IS completmg xts buslest year We are all axdmg in making It a year dear to the heart of all of us in time to come Of our fourteen members five have gone from the first to the twelfth grades at Leesburg High They are Lawrence Sanderson janls Metz, Carole Edgar juamta Miller and Dick Klopenstein After twelve years of hard work and an abundance of fun fourteen of us are looklng forward to rece1v1ng d1p1omas 1n the sprmg Lawrence Sanderson, Jams Metz Melba Vandermark Norma Noggle Carole Edgar Juan1ta Mxller Joe Long enecker D1ck Klopenstem W1111am Gross Don Lozxer, Richard Vanator Robert Stookey Rlchard Allen and Barbara Longenecker LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF' THE CLASS OF 48 We the members of the Senlor class of L H S of the year 1948 do hereby w1ll and attest to the follow1ng named he1rs, the follow1ng named property to have and to hold unt11 thexr hemrs and ass1gned forever to w1t We w11l as a whole the slxth row of seats 1n the assembly to the Junxors to be de11vered by them at the end of the next year to the present Sophomores Page 14 . . .
