TEN YEARS HENCE Here on the O M Ranch I Old Maid Ranch that is, in Phoenix Arizona the sun shone brightly the heavens were clear of clouds a rattlesnake sllthermg across the sand sought its prey while the horses in the Corral stumped in the heat of the day My atomic plane was off in the distance just raring to go so I Junqped lnto my jeans and strode across the yard to go on a little Jaunt Undecided where to go I just started zooming in the blue hea ven and in no time at all I arrived in New York So I decided t land and visit the world known super basketball coach ofthe year Yes I found him in Radio City broadcasting about his Super Dup ers who were to play the Rochester Royals for the world champ ionship that evening Yes you ve guessed it jim Hartman After the broadcast he invited me to his fruit farm in Pennsylvania We flew in his autogyro and landed at a most beautiful home in t e courtry Her jim sprays and tend his trees with the greatest care Then back to New York and the evening game we went Oh that crowd It was the largest ever known and sure enough jim s team won I bade him adieu as he had other matters to attent to He and his team were to sail overseas the next day for a six month tour Nest mormng as I flew over I noticed a large farm Sol land ed in a pasture field and walked to the house There was Lena Mae out milking the cows I follower her around dunng the chores which never ended till nearly noon Having been invited I stayed for lunch Upon entering the spic and span cottage I saw her hus a delicious lunch and Lena Mae excused herself as more chores were to be done I asked Is your husband ill? ' Oh No plied Lena Mae here we women do all the chores About two o clock she said she would have a few minutes to spare and asked me 1fI d like to run into the city as she had business to attend to I invited her to ride in my atomic plane but she exclaimed 'Oh no I am afraid to So we walked to a three car garage and she chose a Cadillac and drove into the city Stopping before a large building Lena Mae said There S some one in here that I think you will be interested in ' We went down a large white hall A woman withthe greatest dignity asked us to be seated Presently we were called into a larger room and Lena Mae whispered Do you know the woman seated at that desk? N I replied 'Why that s Sue Fobison She s the wellknown child doctor and owns this building for unfortunate children They say it s always full of patients So we introduced ourselves Such surprises Lena Mae had to leave so Sue invited me to spent e evening with her After dinner which was super, we decided take in the Stork Club the most ritzy club in town The entertain ment was wonderful Looking over the program to see what was next we saw Phyllis Sutton s name as the torch singer of the year 14 .
