ALL PEPPED . By Ken Trantham ' SPIRIT. Students at Lee's Summit High School displayed their school spirit through- out the year. Members of cheerleading squads, Flag Corps, and Drill Team, faithfully wore their uniforms on days with after-school activities. Other students and teachers donned their black and gold garments every Friday to support the Lee's Summit High School pride in sports activities. Spirit Club played a major role in keeping school spirit alive. Wearing their black and gold sweaters, members boosted spirit at games and during school. They held fun- draisers and sold food to raise funding for their activites. Before the games of each week, some members of the Spirit Club selected se- cret pals from various sports teams to give gifts. Sometimes, the halls were decorated with black and gold streamers, as well as, ban- ners. In showing their spirit, cheerleaders, Drill Team, and Flag Corps members all endured early morning and after-school practices. The squads also met during the summer vacation to learn routines and dances. At pep assem- blies and games, teams showed their spirit with outstanding performances. Even at cold Friday night football games, the girls kept Lee's Summit High School spirit burning! School spirit could be seen in classrooms as teachers decorated bulletin boards with Tigers and black and gold streamers, students carried folders displaying the school emblem, and ad- ministrators walked the halls in black blazers, white shirts, tiger ties, and black slacks. At football games, fans cheered, cheerlead- ers spirited the crowds, the Marching Band performed, and the football teams fought...all for school spirit. During Spirit Week, students dressed according to the theme of that particu- lar day--inside-out clothes, biker attire, op- posite day, the Tarzan and lane look, and the traditional black and gold day. In 1987-1988, students displayed their school spirit at Lee's Summit High School. 6 OPENING LayoutfChris Mathews F-514 Mr, E Chorl lennij du ring 7 msn F i tuilt ti i A 4 2
