Often braving unfavorable weather conditions, most teams won a majority of their games. Win or lose, supporting them were a large number of proud parents and students. A wide variety of sports activities took place during the fall sports season. The Gymnastics team succeeded in se- curing several cahmpionship titles and remained unde- feated. The girls' varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams, after hours of drills, enjoyed competiting in matches. The soccer team gained experience this year at regional tournaments and competitions. Running their way over treacherous terrain, the cross country team captured many titles. In additiion to trapshooters amazed observers with their profeciency in using firearms. On Friday night, the climax for the week in sports, the football bleachers filled with cheering patrons while rug- ged football players filled the field prepared to defeat the opposing team. Friends met with other friends and rallied the Tigers to victory. Other fans waved banners and signs and, with the charismatic cheerleaders, shouted their support. Also, the school colors of black and gold radiated a spirited glow from the stands. In 1987-1988, students, as participants and fans, engaged in sports activ- ities. Students enjoy a pleasant afternoon watching the Tiger soccer team. George Harding blocks an Oak Park player to give Bread Ranville an opening. Marching band joins in the Lee's Summit city parade to celebrate the bicentennial of the United States Constitution. STUDENT LIFE 13
