effwz exam ' eeacdw The Div. II auditorium is packed with people impatient to see The 1978 all-school musical Annie Get Your Gunf' Most arrive early to find good seats and the hot, noisy auditorium makes wait- ing uncomfortable. The curtain rises on time though, and the crowd forgets discomforts to concentrate on the play. Portraying the life of Annie Oakley C1860-19261 at the begin- ning of her fame as the world's best niarksman, the play is ranked as one of the most popular for high schools to perform. Irving Berlinls music was expertly performed by selected LSHS band stu- dents under the direction of Mr. Russ Berlin. Added to that were long hours of hard work and the exceptional talents ofthe cast and crew. The result-a truly enjoyable evening. Working with such a large cast presents problems, admitted . drama coach Bonnie Ewing. But we also had an unbelievable a- 1 mount of volunteers to help with costumes, make-up, posters, sets i and scenery. The cooperation between the cast and crew was ter- rific. Mrs. Irene Young and Mr. Robert Heuman directed the Lindsey Black gave the part of Annie her best Shot- vocal aspects of the musical and did an excellent job. Over 160 students tried out for parts in the play, which emphasizes the growing interest and support from students in the recently re- 1 vived practice of school musicals. With this kind of team effort, the play was a huge success in spite of technical difficulties with sound and stage space. The sound was a lot better this year,', commented one cast member. But we still can't wait to work in the new performing arts build- ing! 1 W.T.Ditt ,w dM ' - ' . . man ar anes, and Tom Flint sing to Annie.
