Add specifications for spirit days Cdress in jerseys, overalls, warm-up suits, checks and black and goldj, choose six girls to represent classes, decorate halls and what do you have? Courtwarming week at LSI-IS. Courtwarming week started on Feb. 8. Spirit Club designated Monday as g'Check in out Dayf' Students dressed in' checks and pre- pared for the climactic day. Tuesday was 'glersey Dayf' Students wore jerseys from various teams around the country, and the antici- pation of Friday mounted. Wednesday was uWarm-up Dayf' Tiger fans came to school wearing their warm-up suits and looking forward to Friday. Thursday students wrestled into their overalls and put up hall decorations for the annual competition. Then the day came. It was Friday and the Tigers had waited enough. Traditional black and gold outfits filled the halls. The annual assembly agenda included introduction ofthe queen candidates and class attendants. Mr. and Ms. Courtwarming were announced, as well as spirit jug winners and hall decoration prizes were given. Honors went as follows: Senior Attendants: Denise Cooper fqueenj, Melody Rife, and Shere Sipes. Junior Attendant: Shannon Phillips. Sophomore Attendant: Lisa Needham. Freshmen Attendant Arletta Pirie. Spirit jug competition, hall decorations, and class com- petition went to the Sophomores. Jeff Thomas was named Mr. Court warming and Kathy Cameron was named Ms. Courtwarming. The time had come and Leels Summit was about to find out who the 1979 Courtwarming Queen would be. Linda Steele, 1978 Courtwarming Queen, escorted by '78 graduate Ron Wheeler, crowned Denise Cooper the 1979 Queen. Although the Tigers lost, the score did not show the excitement and teamwork ofthe game. Saturday was the dance with Superstition providing the enter- tainment.
