David Gardner Again under the direction of Mrs. Warren, a play was presented in the spring of 1973. 11O In The Shade or The Flainmaker was the musical presented on April 13th and April 14th. The play centered around Lizzie Curry who thought she was plain and ordinary. Her brother, Noah Curry, rein- forced this thought although H. C. Curry, her father tried to dispell it. Then the Flainmaker, Starbuck, showed up in town. He convinced all the other people except Lizzie that he could make it rain. Trying to con- vince Lizzie he could make it rain, they fell in love. At the same time she fell for the Sheriff File. Both of the involved men asked her to marry him at the same time. Choosing between the two, Lizzie picked File. As the play ended, it began to stormg for the first time in his life Starbuck had made it rain. The audiences greatly enjoyed both productions of the 1973 school year. The students, in addition to having fun producing these plays learned a great deal about behind-the-scenes activities. Broadway and New York - look out! lil?
