New Courses Taught in English Department For the past three years, the English department has successfully worked out an elective program of English courses that runs on a semester basis. The only required course is Composition l for sophomores. There were two new subjects offered this year: Individualized Reading for seniors, and Thinking Through Literature. The main objectives of the English program are to help students appreciate good literature, to help students understand life in its personal, social, and aesthetic phases, and to help students respect an author's right to express opinions different from their own.
