CLASS POEM As the Senior Class of Fifty-four Thru these halls we'll roam no more, For now the day at last has come When our high school days are done. In our Junior year, it was a thrill The new modern building to dedicate, Our Senior project gave a nice start For shrubbery, the grounds to decorate. Baccalaureate and Commencement- Fill ou'r hearts with joy and gladness, But leaving dear Lee's Summit High NIS also cause for a little sadness. However, the- time at last is here When we must say our adieu , But we'll remember the friends we've made And we will remember our lessons too. As out into the world we will go Some of us seeking higher education- Some of us working, some of us traveling To many other parts of our nation. Good-bye Lee's Summit High School, Good-bye dear friends and teachers too- We'll have our fun, we'll have our work, Bu't we know we will always remember you. -Jean Floyd CLASS FLOWER THE YELLOW ROSE CLASS COLORS BLACK AND GOLD CLASS MOTTO FROM Tl-IIS PAST WE HAVE EORMED OUR IDEALS Fora THE FUTURE S 15 . .,., , 4,4 ' ,...- ., . , ,, ,F , CLASS PROPHECY A very new, streamlined Stratovar,,' year model 1990, was barreling it down the eight lane highway, No. 50, on the outskirts of the huge metropolis of Lee's Summit, Mo.-Population 21,- 000,000! The occupants of the car were discussing some current events. Why, Carolyn Coffin, exclaimed one, you don't mean to tell me that Joe Elven Swisher was just elected to be Universe President? It just seems like yesterday when we were all gradu- ated from high school!,' Well, of course, Johnna, Carolyn remarked, I expected it of him all along. By the way, do you remember Bobby Bachman? Well, I read in the paper the other day that he just bought the A. 85 P. Company. He, Gene Loveland, and Ted Anderson are to be the presidents of it. They expect to enlarge it and maybe will make enough money to buy the Tommy Johnson Food Company. Tommy and his expert advisor, Burl Yarber, seem to be growing too fast for the A. 85 P7 The car began slowing down and Carolyn pulled into a super filling station owned by the millionaire, Jerry Gilbert. Milton Gerdts, his ex- pert mechanic, came running out. Fill her up? he inquires in a brisk voice. Then he recognizes his patrons! Why hello! Haven't seen you' in a long time. What's newf, Carolyn inquires, and Milton gives with the details. Well, let me see. Jeanette Dick just opened up a new club. She has Barbara Sisk, Becky Downey, and Wanda Cogan featured on the floor show. Kay Evans and Ann Corn are also her torch singers. Roy Havens, world famous strong man, is the bouncer! Dale Sims struck oil down in Texas and has hired Robert Winston, famous mathematician, as his engineer to figurre out all the complicated problems of oil. Dale Simonin and Gene Slagle went up North to hunt gold in Alaska. They haven't struck anything yet, but are still hopeful! By this time, everything was in order and Carolyn decided to brave the wolves'l of Lee's Summit and look up some old friends. On the way downtown, she ran into Ruth Brown and Don Hopkins. They had opened a pet shop, where they feature all kinds of animals. Ruth had wanted to become a model, but Don vetoed that! Glenn Chambers, famous hunter in Africa, supplies the shop with lions and all kinds of ferocious animals. He is quite a game hunter and prides himself on his catches. J Ruth gave Carolyn and J ohnna a tip on a sure thing-a seven to one bet on a dark horse, Black Beauty-down at Tom Knight and Jesse Leipard's new super cassino. Jo Anne Randall and Joan Pratt help place the bets. Darlene Bozarth, Beverly Childs, Lilly Egels- ton, Pat Johnson, and Evelyn Shackelton are charter members of a new club, the HMM CHappily Married Mothersj. Naomi Wills was recently elected President of the Milk Producers Association for outstanding achievements in the field of dairying. Suddenly a wailing scream was heard as Bobby Davis, Chief of Police, screeched to a stop along- side Patsy Webber, who had just run another red light. Her passengers, Donna Stephenson, Beverly Youing, Alice van der Linde, Joann Rice, Helen Sue Quinn, Helen Moore, and Bobby Nesbit, all dived for the floor, trying to hide from the search- ing eyes of the law. After having successfully talked the cop out of the ticket, the girls filled in the remaining news. Joe Mac Belt formed his own band, featuring the world-renowned C. W. Muckey and David Jones. He also sponsors the Two Plus One Trio, Peggy Kalousek, Phyllis Braufn, and Pat Ward. Ralph Wilson is their press agent. James Wolfe and Dean Clasbey have been showing their revolutionary thinking machine to all those interested in escaping work. Gale Allen. Jim Broaddus, and Dennis Lund are parents in the Stratovar Car Company. Chief designer is Garey Sweet. Another Stratovar is soon seen streaking along 50 Highway at 160 miles an hour. Sue War- ren brings the car to an abrupt halt and views the marvelously muscled Dean Pru'yn, head life guard at Unity. His assistant, Clifford Haislip is seen diving in to rescue Kay Bosler, who again dived off the shallow end and got caught on a pipe. Georgeanne Prewitt attempts a quick flip and ends up in Gle-n Clark's inner tube. Result- deflated tube. Jean Floyd challenges Ronald Johnson to a cross-pool race. Jean finishes first be-cause Ronald is disabled by an unexpected leg cramp. Sue learns from Hillis Doyel, famous Chain Drug Store owner that Shirley Head is making her debut as a ballet dancer on the New York stage in the coming year. Donna Branham is her costume designer and companion. Joe Downing arrives in a new model car and swaggers down to the pool. He is a successful rancher and cattleman. He and Jimmy Necessary are partners and own a huge portion of Hawaii Joe tells Sue that Richard Nichols won a pre- liminary bout in the finals for the World's Heavy- weight boxing title. Richard Johnson has just wrecked another one of Truman Hobbs' prize tractors and Ronald Cal- vert, the local serviceman, comes to haul the wreckage away. As Sue leaves the swimming pool and drives through the city, she sees Patricia Edson, the brain of Wall Street financial circles, going into the Jamison Beauty Shoppe for her weekly set and shampoo. When she reads her evening newspaper, she sees an article, written by Christine Clarkson, which states, Who would have thought that the class of '54 would have turned out this good?
