When there weren ' t festivities like Homecoming or some other game, or egg tosses, or conversation around the fountain, or getting out of the hospital, we turned to classes and homework, term papers and themes. At the end of the year, Academic Dean James Stonesifer acknowledged the recipients of the Woelfel Award for Outstanding Instructors at Lees-McRae, Jenny Teagarden and Archie Smith. Janet Carroll won the Phi Theta Outstanding Instructor Award. Aside from the many things to do at Lees-McRae it all boils down to the pursuit of an education, to classes, and to hard work.
