As Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Jessie Ryan not only helps students in choosing careers and colleges, but also with their personal problems. Kile scores on a short run. 165 Top ground gainer Mike Hartsfield, tallies six points against McAdory Yellow Jackets tough defense. The Big Green Machine offense rolled up a total of two hundred twenty points and the defense yielded of only forty seven points to lead county defense units. Stalwarts on defense for the Green Men were: Linebackers Gary Cox. Tackle Mike Tharp, and Guards Doug Watson, Terry Green. Defense backs were inexperienced but turned in a great showing. The Leeds offense was centered around Halfback Mike Hartsfield and Fullback Johnny Kile. Jackie Floyd Battles blew holes for the backs all year. Coach Campbell has been at Leeds for 7 years. He is a very valuable cog in Leeds success in football. His 1967-68 basketball team won their area tournament in the state playoffs. Overall his team has won 112 and lost 95. Head Baseball Coach, B-Team Football and Basketball Coach. Coach Andy’s only been here at Leeds for two years. His knowledge of all sports make him a valuable member of Leeds fine coaching staff. Leeds High Coaches Coach Homer Smiles has been head coach at Leeds for the past 13 years. In these 13 years, Coach Smiles has won approximately 100 games. With the Leadership of Coach Smiles Leeds has gone to the Dental Clinic 12 times with a record of 9-2-1.
