The house becomes a jumble of notebooks and strange-look- ing blocks, and everyone is getting word associ- ation tests, blood-to-the brainn tests, intelligence tests, and plenty of endurance tests! Laura's interference completely finishes off XVally's romance with Ioansie. The maid, con- vinced by test that she's a genius. is off to college! And then. at the all-important tea and while Martha is out of the room, Laurie administers the Zombrowski Ink Blot Test and lavs devas- tatingly bare the inner personalities of her mother's astonished guests. Infuriated, they stalk from the house. That night. after Laurie has gone on a date with handsome but moody Mark Bradford, the family decides to do a little purging'l on their own. XVally stumbles inadvertently upon-and reads aloud to his stunned parents-Laurieis professional notesi' in which she has relentlessly npsychologizedi' them all in terms of Assets, and Liabilities.v They conspire to teach her a lesson, and when Laurie returns with Mark, they put on a shown that Laurie will doubtless re- member for a long time to come. Mark leaves hurriedly. and Laurie. humili- ated bevond endurance, soon follows. The dis- tressed family, fearing they have overdone mat- ters, spend a worried dozen hours awaiting her return. Meanwhile, YVally. taking a leaf from Laurieis notebook boldly invites Deadwood and his aggressive wife, Lillian to the Hunting- ton house! Before that fateful meeting is finished, both Sid and Ted apply some psychology-as well as some other things-to each other! The returning Laurie. cognizant now that a little psychology is a dangerous thing, finds forgiveness and love from her family-and Mark!
