7 i fc WINTER HE wintry season brings on a spirit of merriment. Throughout these brisk months, the extrafcurricular activities of the school are in full swing. Every organization works onward so that it can achieve its goals. Our striving quintet, reporting regularly for four o'clock practice and then facing each opposing team with victory as their cry. Besides, the girls tournament brings out fight and enthusiasm among the four teams. Music, assemblies, dances, and class parties wind up the winter activities. BASKETBALL DRAMA ACTIV Ju-by ITIES

VICTORIES AND DEFEATS EECHBURCS Blue and Wliite basketball quintet 'played its first league game opposite Springdale. Although the Leech's were outplayed the hrst three quarters, enough baskets were sunk to make the score 3662. The Leeches trailing by hve points. Dom Vallosio took local scoring honors, opposite Apollo, with four held goals and two charity tosses. Apollo Tigers chalked up a 33127 score. Victory at last! Mottillo's 11 points helped to break a six game losing streak, when the Blues defeated Freeport High in a very tight game. Booker's overhand shot in the last 10 seconds of play gave the game to Leechburg, 3Of28. A favored Leechburg Team faced the Tarentum 'kRedcats but Lcechbtlrg was destined to loose. They came out on the short end of a 3747 count. Back on the home floor again, the locals defeated the hard hghting Vandergrift Blue Devils to the tune of 2lf12. Vandergrift tried desperately to lengthen their score but the locals were too far ahead. The second half of Section V race got under way with Springdale again defeating Leechburg 45-25. In this game, the outstanding scorer was Kasuba, substitute forward. Apollo handed the locals another defeat in Section V tilt, 36-ll. Glenn, Leechburg, lanky center, netted 7 of our ll points. Leechburg again defeated the Freeport Yellow jackets in a fast and exciting game, 33f3l. lvlottillo was responsible for lff of the local's 33, while Snyder for I2 of Freeport's 31. Coming from behind, the Blue and White defeated the Redcats of Tarentum, 27fl7. Glenn chalked up ll points for himself, while Vallosio marked up 9. Leechburg defeated the Lancers of Vandergrift, 32f27 in the last game of the season. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Vans lead 24f22, but the ice was broken when Sorisio, forward substitute, sunk three buckets in succession. The locals retained their lead for the rest of the game. J. V's HAVE SUCCESSFUL SEASON! INNING I7 and losing only 4 games, the Leechburg reserves completed one of the best seasons in reserve history. Led by Strapac with l47 points, they rolled up a total of 484 points against 302 for the opponents. Among the games, was a 47f4 walloping of Bell Township, a thrilling 2lf20 victory over Kittanning and an exciting 2lf20 loss to Indiana which was avenged later in the season by a 2lfl7 victory. Ford City was defeated for the Hrst time in many years. In order to show their appreciation, Captain Fondrk of the team, presented Coach Dzvonik with a pen and pencil set at the end of this successful season. Yi
