TROTTY VECK CARRIER OF THE NEWS ROTTY VECK, the high school paper, was first published in 1918, but until recent years it remained a four page publication. Now, however, it varies around twenty pages and is crammed with news, features, cartoons, short stories and sports. The Trotty Veck staif of 1941 has done much to improve their bifweekly editions. They joined the Pennsylvania School Press Association, took an active part in the Kiski Valley Press Club, sent several of their issues to professional authorities for criticism, tried to print as many student names as possible, labored to write editorials and news stories that would appeal to the students' interests, purchased a new mimeograph to improve the appearance of Trotty Veck, and all in all, they tried to present the paper in a journalistic fashion. The Seniors did not publish the paper alone, however, but were aided to a great extent by a promising staff of underclassmen. It was this staff that published several of the last issues. Interesting selections were very common in Trotty Veck during the year. Frequent articles included: Editorials by Helen Swank, short stories by Eddie McNutt, humorous cartoons by William Kasanicky and several other cartoonists, movie and radio reviews by Charles Slonaker and jack Ritchie, Vogue Junior by Aleda Gallino, clever sports sketches by john Findley and Frank Firestine, latest musical information by Linda Tegoni and Yolanda Trombetta, and views from the students by the interviewing reporter, Frances Firestine. Of course there were many other well written features and news selections. After a successful year, the editor, Marion Grosso and the Trotty Veck staff desires to thank the advisors who played such an important part in its success, and the student body which offered good sportsmanship and loyal support.
