Nutumn CLASS OF 1942 THE FIRST THREE CHAPTERS WOULDN'T it be fun to write a book on the activities of our class? Let me see, in the first chapter, I could tell of our experiences as a Freshman. The Freshman Class of '42 timidly entered into the busy life of Leechburg High. The task of electing officers was easily accomplished. They selected green and white for their class colors. Sure, and there must be a lot of Irishmen in the class. Some of the highlights of the year was the gym exhibition and the Freshman dance. All in all, it was a pleasant year for everyone, and we can end the chapter with a feeling of satisfaction. Now comes the second chapter entitled The Sophomore Year. We find the class settled back in school inspired with fresh pep and energy. After selecting officers, they began their activities with a magazines campaign. If every home in Leechburg didn't hear about the Curtis magazines, believe me, it wasn't our fault. For their assembly, they presented an amusing play called The Red Lamp, which brought out some remarkable acting ability in the class. They held many other functions to add money to their rapidly filling treasury. They certainly weren't daunted by the strenuous task of planning the Sophomore Hop. They entered into the work with energy and determination. They emerged victorious. The Hop was a great success. Perhaps, we should include a picture of the beauti- fully decorated gym in our book. It certainly did look lovely. The Hop just about concluded the work for the year, so it will also end our chapter. We can happily end it with the word success printed across the pages. Now the third wchapter, The junior Year. This year was almost as im' portant as our Senior year will be. Money was earned by selling Christmas cards, presenting a motion picture and other methods. After much controversy, class rings were selected. For the first time in the school history the class received their hats and emblems during their Junior year. Another new undertaking was the presentation of a class play. The play decided upon was a comedy entitled Don't Take My Penny. It was presented on April 18, and was a great success. Another important event was the junior-Senior Prom. An enjoyable evening was had by all, climaxed by dancing in the gym which was decorated in the fashion of a breathftaking Southern Plantation. So ends our third chapter. I guess I shall have to leave the conclusion of my ibook until next year. I only hope that it will contain as much happiness and success as in the past chapters.
