Your parents woutd feet entirety out of ptace, coutd they return to their chitd- hood and find themsetves in a schoot such as you attend. Their schoot was totatty different schotasticatty and in extra-curricutar activities. Present day schoots are more ttexibte atso in that they give a fpupit a greater amount of freedom. This is proper where that extra freedom is not abused. Att this is as it shoutd be. Schoots must change in order to meet the demands ot a changing sociat order. Two factors particutarty tend to bring about these changes. First, our concepts of a democracy have changed a greater amount during the past generation that ever before in the history ot America. Second, in order to be in step with governmentat and sociat changes, our schoots have 'had to change to meet the new demands for training individuals to tive a tutter and more usefut tite in present day society. Civic and sociat demands on the schoots and on individuats are not static. This tendency for change Witt atways be present to ta greater or tesser degree. Your studies in high schoot have done their share in preparing you to tive in a changing sociat order. This adoptabitity which you have acquired must not stop after graduation. From this time on it is your responsibitity to do att in your power to 'bring about civic and sociat changes which you feet Witt matte your community and your nation a better ptace in which to tive. You must study att changes with an open mind. Do not be inituencect by others. Vvhen you reach a decision act upon it with att the force you feet it deserves.
