CLASS POEM We entered Lee M. Waid four years ago, To develop our minds of things we didn't know. Now we leave to spread our knowledge, That we have gained here at Waid. We've many friends and become accustomed to new ways. Struggles, steppingstones, and hardships have been many, To cope with the stresses, and strains of society have been plenty, We all have learned to look to God above all men, To uphold our beliefs, and stray from sins. Grateful to those who have striven so hard, We extend our hands in sadness to depart. To the Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and all, Strive always to uphold Waid and it will never fall. Education is our greatest need for tomorrow One can never look back on it in sorrow. The class bids each, and all a farewell, We have had hard times, and many times that were swell. Now we all say good-bye in our final departure, We, the senior class of 1968, Bid all of you farewell, for we must go. © CLASS PROPHECY (4 I, Arlene Reynolds, your prophetess of the class of 1968, bid you listen to words of wisdom. I shall speak what was revealed unto me as I looked into my crystal ball. I see men and women who were once my classmates at Lee M. Waid now citizens in the world of society. I see Harry Board as a wealthy cattle rancher in the foothills of Kentucky. Ina twelve-story building on 5th avenue in New York City, I see Ida Belcher performing her duties as an executive secretary to Howard Hughes the well-known multi- millionaire. Among the most prominent Negro scientists of our times are Alvin Clements, anu- clear physicist at Cape Kennedy, Florida. Accompaning him as his assistant is Pro- fessor Linda Hopkins. As I thumb through the pages of Mademoiselle I see a stunning young lady all dressed in evening attire. She is no other than, Betty Marie Fralin. On the campus of U.C.L.A. I see a famous football player talking to Bill Russell, coach of the Boston Celtics. Oh my! Can that be William Dixon? My crystal ball is growing dim, but oh! Who is this I see? I see Brenda Toney as first lady to the first Negro president of the United States. Can you believe it! Who is that nice young congressman cruising around the Pacific on his yacht? Well bless my soul, it's congressman Charles Price of Va. In the famous French restaurant La Cusine the chief Chef is preparing his famous dish Crepe Suzette. He is one of our former Virginians lewrence Mack. He is about to serve this dish to several digni- taries. They are no other than Jean Holland, Leroy McHimer and his interpreter Ar- villa Gaod. London, England is the place of mod fashion. Among the famous fashion salons on 28
