rT For several years we have endeavored to improve the offering in the Lee M. Waid School by increasing the number of courses taught and by enriching the courses already provided. The school building has been enlarged and additional equipment provided in order to aid the cause of instruction. The purpose of the additional facilities is to provide a setting for better classroom instruction. The quality of teaching has been improved greatly during this period. Additional teachers with specialized training have been provided for the several courses added. Teachers already in the system have pursued additional work through extension classes and summer schools to improve their competence in their respective fields. All of this has been done with the idea of providing better instruction for the boys and girls of the county. In order that the greatest benefit may be derived from these improvements it is necessary also that there be the fullest cooperation among the parents, the children, and the teachers, Real learning takes place when children want to learn. The attitude of the child is influenced t o a large degree by the atmosphere in the home. It is hoped that with these improvements there will come an increased interest on the part of the parent and child and as a result a greater dedication to the basic purpose of schools which is in- creased knowledge. It is a pleasure to offer my congratulations to the members of the senior class of the Lee M. Waid School upon their completion of the requirements for high school graduation. I extend to each of you my best wishes for success in whatever endeavor you may choose as your vocation. It is my hope that the training you have received through your school experiences will prove to be a good foundation on which you will be able to build in the future. flood Superintendent
