Mason, Assistant Principal Opening 5 As Lee's new principal, Mr. Tom Owen would say, “We're all one big family now. Mr. Owen feels that the students at Lee will be building a bet- ter future for themselves as well as reputation for the school if they all Moving On to a Better Future work together and cooperate with the faculty. Along with improving the quali- ty of the education at Lee and the expectation of the students, some remodeling work has been done. A couple of examples are the addition of walls throughout the building and the construction of a senior lounge. 6 Opening Mr. Owen feels that we have a tremen- dous atmosphere for progress. He thinks that if we all work together and have good input from our students, then we will pro- duce a happier, more productive place of which we will all be proud. Working with students from many dif- ferent backgrounds, we will make our school more like the real world than any other school in Huntsville. Although sometimes it may be difficult to work together, we will still stand together to de- fend our place in today's society. Mr. Owen also feels that by improving the quality and standards of a Lee High graduate's education, then Lee graduates will be in greater demand in top positions in the business world of to- day. As Mr. Owen puts it, If we’re going to have progress, we're going to have to want it and cooperate and agree on cer- tain goals. □ □□□ Opening 7 1983 Homecoming Top Right — Freshman Homecoming Maid Wendy Ferdinand escorted by Joe Tondera Top Left — Shean Congratulates Kim with a big bear hug Bottom Left — Anchor Club placed first place in club division at Homecoming. A 1983 graduate, he was an athlete, lettering in baseball, basketball, and football. Having received an athletic scholarship, he was looking forward to the future. We will always cherish the moments spent with him. Derek Potter, with the ability to make you laugh, was an outstanding member of the Class of ’83. He was elected “Class Clown” by his classmates. His warm personality and good humor will always be remembered. A 1983 graduate of Lee, Harold Turner, was a joy to know. He was involved in football and pro- moted school spirit. His laughter and happiness through life will be missed by his friends. This made him an important part in the lives of Lee students. 226 Closing The memories David. Our activities consisted of slumber parties, breakfast at Shoney’s parties, and a Fall and Spring tea. We also stuffed Christmas stockings for the needy.
