This year, as well as others, a great problem at Lee has been getting the students to put their lunch trays up. Because of this the Lee High student council in cooperation with the Madison County clean community system sponsored operation S.O.A.P. (secondary on-going awareness program) to help clean up the lunchroom. Neat Pete visited the school and a way station was put up to make it more convenient for students to put up their trays. Closing 223 224 Closing Dear Generals, As we have depicted in the 1982 Silver Sabre, there is a time for everything. Now is the time to say good-bye. The time to leave the good times, bad times, football games, schoolwork, dances and sadly, the time to leave friends. For some of you this good-bye is only for the summer, however for the Seniors it is a final good-bye. The Silver Sabre staff has spent countless hours planning, working, and striving to make this edition special in some way to each and every General. We sincerely hope we have reached this goal. Most of the people who read this book will like it. To them, we offer our thanks. A few people will dislike this book. To them, we offer our condolences, and well, in the immortal words of Rhett Butler: “Frankly . . .” Although “time waits for no man,” the yearbook is timeless. It will be as special and as meaningful to you ten, fifteen, or even fifty years from now as it is today. So, even though we are saying good-bye to 1982, you can re-live the year anytime you look at your yearbook. Sincerely, Toy McLemore Silver Sabre Editor 1982 Our special thanks goes to Mrs. Vandiver for her time, patience, and dedication. We would also like to extend our thanks to Mr. Jim Robbins from Taylor Publishing Company for his assistance. And last, but not least our thanks goes to Waldrup Studio for all the pictures that made this yearbook possible. Delta Debs is Lee’s oldest sorority. The main objective of the sorority is to pro- mote sisterhood and friendship. The members do this through activities such as slumber parties, cookouts, hayrides and jersey days. Their annual Thanksgiv- ing and Christmas dinners help bring the sorority closer together. The sorority held fall and spring rush teas to bring in new members. These new members raise money to buy the graduating seniors sorority rings. During the year the sorority has many money- making projects to finance their annual trip to Florida. Delta Debs is sponsored by Liz and Bob Parcus. The members of Delta Debs along with the big brothers and Liz and Bob are a part of a very special family. These young ladies were selected by charter members on the basis of their personality, grades and character. They went through a week of formal initiation followed by a tea. Also, four gentlemen were chosen to be big brothers.
