TEN LONG YEARS This, the tenth anniversary of Robert E. Lee High School, was the year of the Mardis Gras. The 1967-68 school year was the most colorful in Lee ' s history. Almost everything this year was centered around the occassion of our tenth anniversary; Homecoming, Mardis Gras week, and the spirit of the student body. Accordingly, the “Shield” uses the tenth anniversary of Robert E. Lee High School as its theme for its decade issue. We hope that we have captured the excitement and the most memorable moments of this year. There was something else that was extra-special this year: the student body. All of us worked hard to make this the most outstanding year in Robert E. Lee ' s history. We added the extra measure of enthusiasm, the extra work, and made this an extra colorful year. T hus was the 1967-68 school year, the tenth anniversary, the year of the Mardis Gras, a year which will not soon be forgotten. 5

OUR DEDICATION The “Shield Staff, on behalf of the student body of Robert E. Lee High School, is proud to dedicate this, our decade issue, to Col. Robbins. He has been instrumental in the publication of the “Shield for three years as well as a teacher of Earth Science for five years. Col. Robbins is very much a part of Lee. His familiar face can be found al¬ most anywhere in our school. Col. Robbins can be found teaching in room 222, eating lunch with the other science teachers in room 239, working in the IBM room, helping out in the yearbook room, or walking the halls with his camera during 6th period. As yearbook advisor, Col. Robbins has given up many nights and weekends of relaxation to produce the finest year¬ book possible for our student body. We thank you. Col. Robbins. 4
