SENIOR CLASS HISTORY 63-67 The year 1963 was one of Great Expectations for the largest freshman class ever to attend Lee. Even the barrage of SCAT and STEP tests did not dampen our class spirit, which was expressed exurberantly in our third place Bee for Lee Homecoming float. An unforgettable picnic at Burke Lake concluded the year. As sophomores, we sponsored the traditional Sopho¬ more Talent Show. Wipe Out Jaguars , our Home¬ coming float, placed third — ahead of the Juniors ' . We continued our winning streak in the Freshman- Sophomore Softball Game. In 1965, as juniors, we made our first big decision — blue zircon, dark finish . . However, our world soon exploded, leaving us without a float for Home¬ coming and with our first taste of slavery. The junior girls rallied to seek revenge in the Junior-Senior Basket¬ ball Games, but the boys reached a stalemate in their rivalry. The month of May brought us two important occasions; the Junior Prom, for memories of the past, and College Boards, as preparations for the future. This, our final year at Lee, has been an unforget¬ table one for our class of nearly five hundred. It began with the Senior Barbeque, which united the members of the class after the long summer months. The Annapolis- William and Mary game, the highlight of the fall se¬ mester, was followed by Senior Dress-up Day on Hal¬ loween. Transcripts and college applications flowed in and out of the guidance offices. As the countdown com¬ menced in the spring, all thoughts were turned to prep¬ aration for the Senior Prom, our last class activity. We are now leaving our sheltered nests and will seek to make our individual contributions to the world. These past four years have been but a chapter in our lives, and what lies ahead can only be conjectured. It is up to us to shape our future and the future of our country. 12
