Social Studies The task of informing the student about the world, its history, its government, and geog¬ raphy is given to the Social Studies Depart¬ ment. Such subjects as World Geography, U.S. and Virginia History, and government touch the life of every student; the select courses of World History and Modern Euro¬ pean History especially encourage the pros¬ pective history major. Supplementing the standard textbooks, various speakers and field trips give realism to the printed word. Social Studies, vital to the understanding of society, is not neglected at Lee.
