Mr. Piper has served as Assistant Principal of Ad¬ ministration since the opening of Robert E. Lee High School. His many and varied duties include supervising bus transportation, taking charge of all school reports and registration, and also providing for the schools’ discipline. Mr. Piper definitely plays a vital role in the Administration. Although General Norell is new in his administrative position, he handles his job with such efficiency, that he is respected greatly by students and as equally high by the faculty. His main duties are to order textbooks, obtain substitute teachers, schedule students, and aid teachers in any way possible. To paraphrase Robert E. Lee, as the principal of Robert E. Lee High School I take pride in our school, “her prosperity and institutions, her students and faculty, her program of studies, her extracurricular activities, her outreach in our community. Eight years ago students worked to the sound of the carpenter ' s hammer and the brick-mason’s trowel; this year the same sounds are heard as work is going on apace in the new building of additional class¬ rooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, and other facilities. I take pride in this growth, in the senior class that is the largest in our history, in all the students who are growing in “wisdom and knowledge; May we all have the satisfaction that comes from the “consciousness of duty faithfully per¬ formed” in an institution we have learned to love—Robert E. Lee High School. 12
