Language The Language Laboratory and audio-visual aids were a tremendous help in teaching students French, German, or Spanish this year. As well as stressing the fluent speaking and writing of the language itself, the Language Department taught the customs and traditions of the country for the purpose of creating within the student a thorough understanding of each course. Sure it ' s a funny looking faucet, but where the heck is the sink?! Mrs. Bisaccia shows her students that Latin is not a dead language. 22

B.A., M.A. English English and American literature, gram¬ mar, vocabulary, the art of speaking, creative writing, and dramatics are the basic subjects taught by the English Department. This year an experimental modern litera¬ ture book was tested for future use. Also, a series of Humanities films was shown to Junior and Senior English classes throughout the year for the purpose of supplementing regular courses and encouraging better understanding of the subject matter. The probing commentary on Hamlet found in four of the films interested even the most unwilling student and proved to be one of the highlights of the academic year. 21
