ilu illilemnriam Roger Kerkstra was called to his eternal home on March 5, 1956, after a short illness. The loss of a friend and fellow classmate was a shock to the students and faculty alike. But the comfort was that Rog was ready to meet his Lord and Master Whom he served and loved so dearly. As the familiar strains of Pomp and Circumstance fill our cor- ridors, our minds go back and remember Rog for his shining testimony and friendliness to his fellow students. The Ending of a Wonderful Year After the Senior Class of 1957 had elected their officers, they started making plans for parties. Besides those held after the football games, there was the traditional Christmas party. And now came the announcement of the students receiving top honors scholastically. The highest honor, that of Valedictorian, went to Sally Campg second place, Salutatorian, to Corlene Newhouse. Ever uppermost in the minds of the Seniors was the anticipation of the trip to Washington, D. C., where they would see our nation at work. In the midst of all the excitement the class presented Time Out For Ginger. Baccalaureate and Commencement brought the happy year to a close. The students selected as their class colors red and white and the American Beauty Rose as their flower, they chose to follow this motto: Remember this, and also be persuaded of its truth--The future is not in the hands of fate, but in ourselves. 14
