- 6 Football its 71 X1 Coach Consolatt starting his twelfth year at the helm of coaching at Lee High School called for football candidates the first day of school lie worked his boys nightly for two weeks preparing for the season opener against St Joseph s ofP1ttsf1eld on Friday September twenty thtrd under lights at VN ahconah Park In spite of strenuous workouts held in preparatton for the game Lee fell at the short end of a 26 O score to Lee and worked even harder for the next game with Palmer which took place the following Saturday in Lee Led by its fleet footed halfbacks John Troiano and Moey Briggs Lee won the game 6 O and began to show promise of a fine season The vtctory was not entirely gain however for Sophomore Ronnie Roy was lost for the season with a broken elbow For their third game the Wildcats journeyed to Dalton to play a booster affair with the usually rough Dalton eleven Playing on a traditionally wet field the Lee squad emerged triumphant with a 26 6 win tn which John Troiano Moey Briggs and John Clnella scored touchdowns With a 2 1 record the Lee club traveled to halls Village to tangle with Housatonie Valley Regional After a close first half the Lee linesmen came on to score a 6 O victory with a third period touchdown by Terry Curtin Scheduled for the fifth contest was Williamstown In this game Coach Consolatt emptied h1s bench using nearly all the members of his ever IIDPYOV inf' team Lee rolled over a small Williamstown squad Wllh a .36 13 score On October twenty ninth Lee Hrfrh was trying for its fifth consecutive win when tt met Dalton before the Home Fans at the Lee Athletic Field The Wild cats ended their S5 season with an impressive 47 6 vlctory over Dalton 52 1- I . 1 Xu D . ,L xxx A ., Q Q A X X- ' If 'I gif - X ' ' 4 2.1 , - af V g , , .XV r ,- t I , . - - I ' - Li L This initial loss failed to break the spirit of the team, for they came back .D y V - . .
