Students must also have the recommendation of their teachers before receiving an invitation to become a member of this national honorary organization. A student has not realized his aims and goals upon being inducted into the society, but rather he is given greater opportunity to further and broaden them. The purpose of the National Honor Society is to recognize those students who, during their high school career, show them- selves to possess fine character, high scho- Iastic standards, the desire to serve, and the ability to lead, in the hope that this recognization will encourage their continued success and constant improvement. Besides the numerous socials of the year, the club participated in various proiects of service to the community. A portion of the first half of the year was spent in production of a show for the entertainment of the old folks at Moosehaven. For the first time this year Beta presented what it hopes will be- come an annual affair - The Club Follies. A big event of the year was our weekend retreat at Camp Immokalee. Swimming, canoeing, skiing, dancing, and good food were enioyed by all. This was a truly memorable event of the year. After a steak fry and other activities, our year end banquet combined with HANK HAYNES skiing party was held. This was the event at which Beta installed its new officers. Good fellowship, and an inspiring campfire devotion made this a BUDDY HAIDIN perfect closing to a per- Vice President fed year.
