The Music Department Presents . . . Performances by the music department this year ranged from a Canadian tour to a Charlie Brown musical. This fall the Lee Singers toured Vancouver, Canada and the Ladies of Lee toured the southeast- ern United States. Other groups such as the music-drama workshop and Campus Choir provided the campus with four musicals. The workshop presented You're a Good Man Charlie Brown in the fall and Music Man in the spring. The Campus Choir celebrated Christ- mas with the musical Why lsn't Everybody Praising the Lord? During spring semester they performed an Easter cantata. In addition to the choirs' tours and musicals, each semester, at Homecoming and Lee Day, a combined concert is given featuring them and a guest group. Besides the music festivals, two additional perfor- mances are presented each year featuring the jazz band and the woodwind ensemble. Department Hwcird A Music Education major, james Duckworth was the recipient of the Department of Music and Fine Arts Award. He was involved in music through Campus Choir and MENC-NACM and, in his senior year, was a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society and SNEA. ,1T Lots of Soul - No Rock - - o Music ond Fine Hrts Largely reponsible for many of Lee's recruits is the Department of Music and Fine Arts. Fall Festival and Lee Day provide opportunities for visitors to see Lee's showcase of musical talents. Participating in these musical programs are such groups as Promise, Lee Singers, Ladies of Lee and Campus Choir. These groups tour during weekends and vacations Led by Dr, lim Burns, the Music and Fine Arts Department provides training, not only through choral groups, but also through a music drama workshop, the wind ensemble and the jazz band.
