People, C lturc, and History The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences is one of the fastest growing areas of study. This department is comprised of Psychology, Sociology, and History. The Behavioral and Social Sciences have been a popular area of study for students at Lee. Dr. Paul Conn, the department chairman, attributes this avid interest to the desire people have to better understand themselves and others in their world. Along with its excellent course offerings, this department also provides for its students a supplementary fund to finance special seminars, lecturers and films related to the study of the sciences, and various off-campus co-curricular activities. Another newly established feature is the use of senior psychology honor students who act as student aides in some of the introductory Psychology courses. The students chosen this year were Bill Anderson, Karen Boatwright, Bob Fisher, and Eddie Stone. Senior Sociology majors have the opportunity to apply their knowledge with the course in practicum. In this, each student is assigned to a cooperating institution in the community, such as the girls' club or the county jail. Studies in History add perspective to the department with a broad and varied program. Some of the new projects in the planning stages for the department include the development of a new area of study, physiological psycholo- gy, and the provision of more space for a laboratory which will house a modern film library. 12 ,Q , 74 Above: Sign hangs over entrance to Dr, Paul Conn's office.
