The (Challenge Youth, thinker of schemes, builder of dreams, blackened by the ' oil of his labors, sickened by failures, what is he to do? . ■■• Placed on a planet at the edge of a Galaxy, protected from oblivion by a slender shield. Li m i t e d by fears, plagued by faults, surrounded by con- fusion. What can he do? Handicapped by inexperience, torn between ideologies, frustrated by the status quo, baffled by the very nature of things. What should he do? Society begs conformity, individual- ity vows resistance, knowledge beck- ons, lethargy is passive, spirituality as- serts itself, logic scoffs. What must he do? Gradually from the fog comes reaU ization, understanding. To his nation he owes allegiance and undying devo- tion; to himself, fulfillment, the neces- sity to accomplish. To humanity, to God on whom he has depended, he owes even more. To give more than he gets, to replenish more than he uses, to offer more than he has taken, this is his chal- lenge. His cause asserted, his dream visual- ized, he rises Preparation, ■ is made. Through the humanities and sciences knowledge is gained. Beliefs are tried and rigorously tested, finally becom- ing cemented into fact. Acknowledg- ing society becomes too little; he grasps it and lets it mold him in its image. But he does try, and trying succeeds. What will you do? 17
