A masterpiece is such because it is so composed that it cannot perform unless each part is working in cooperation with the other parts. The mainspring is of no value without the hands to direct its actions. Likewise, the hands are useless if their inspiration to move does not come from the movement of the mainspring Within. Still the watch is not completed without the smaller parts that spur the mainspring into action. Thus Lee is a masterpiece; the students inspire the faculty in its work of guidance; the faculty offers the guidance necessary for the students to perform successfully their tasks. Then the little things that make up school life add the finishing touch to the masterpiece: elec- tion campaigns, picnics, banquets, parties, Christmas, club meetings, clean-up days, ball games, music practices and performances. Plays, Clarion meetings, Annual staff meetings, and (our favorite class) canteen. Yes, this is life at Lee College, whose fondest memories we hope to help you recall in the years to come as you scan the pages of the 1955 VINDAGUA. MARIE SHARP— Edjfo;- DEDICATION Many young people have desired to attend Lee College, and many now are making plans and preparations for enrollment. To those young people of the Church of God who in years to come will enter Lee College and con- tinue their education, study in its classrooms, revere Its standards, and grace its campus, as well as those who have long desired to come, but as yet have not been afforded the opportunity, we, the Senior Class of 1954-55, humbly dedicate this, our 1955 VINDAGUA. Golden BOARD MEMBERS Fred Jernigan W. P. STANLEY Editor Sunday School Department LEWIS J. WILLIS Editor Lighted Pathway ASSOCIATE BOARD MEMBERS Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 The undergirding principles which are found in an educational institution should be for the purpose of indoctrinating its students with the philosophies of redemption, for the sole purpose of going into all the world and preaching the Gospel. The above picture shows society in Central America burdened as beasts of the field with heavy loads going over the approach to the boat that is to land them on the other side of Lake Atitlan. These heavy burdens portray the load that is carried by sorrowing souls who have not as yet heard the Gospel of the Son of God. Therefore, it is the purpose of the Church of God For- eign Missions program to send missionaries into the romote recesses of the world by the co-opera- tion, the prayers, the good-will, and the temporal means of our people here in the United States. We are not asking the nationals of this land to unload their heavy burden of earthenware, but we do offer to them the Christ of Calvary Who can deliver their souls from the burdens of sin. That is the crux of the philosophy of redemption. Contributions to send the missionary into the romote sections of the world, to foster an all- out educational program, to flood foreign fields with religious literature, and to support the national may be sent to Church of God Foreign Missions Department, 1080 Montgomery Avenue, Cleve- land, Tennessee. The donor will receive an official receipt for the contribution which is tax-deduc- tible, and the money will go one hundred per cent for the cause for which it has been designated. Our motto in the Church of God Foreign Missions Department is found m Romans 1 :1G— The whole gospel for the ivhole man in the ivhole world.
