nh ,AH 4 ' Softball The 1983 girls' softball team is one to be very proud of. Under the excellent coaching ability of julia Hinkle and as- sistant coach, Bill Butts, the team made it all the way to the state finals. The team worked together and showed hard effort all through the season. They finished first in the conference, only los- ing two games, and then defeated four teams before reaching the finals. Dur- ing the state final series, the girls played hard, but lost both games to St. Paul. Even so, the girls accomplished a feat of which they should be proud. At the end of the season, Mandi Ray was chosen Most Valuable, julie Triplet- te, Best Defensive Player, and the Most improved award went to Kelli Bailey. 1 dk, x --QL if is N ,-,s Y Q A Gi' 'i' yarns wi, ,ai 5 X 2 'ig-1 to ig D-1 Upper left: Mandi Ray gets ready to pitch one across the plate, while Alice Wall gets prepared for the defensive play.
