Golf This year's golf team had a very suc- cessful season. They practiced long and hard at their home course, Willow Creek. They finished out their season second in the conference. Coach Essick felt that although this year's group was a young team, they continued to im- prove throughout the year. .,. .N-. Girls' Track The girls' track team had an extreme- ly good season. Coach Helms felt that this year's track team did an outstand- ing job. The team came through by finishing second in both the conference and the county meets. Throughout the year, they placed first or second in each meet in which they participated. At the spring athletic banquet, Sheila Tippett was named Most Improved Player. The Most Valuable in field events was Mary Crawford. l.V. Baseball The 1.V. baseball team went unde- feated with a I7-O record this season. The team worked long and hard at their practices to prove that this was going to be the best season ever. The team had a good performance. They were characterized by their aggressiveness on both base and at bat, by sound de- fense, and good pitching. Their success came by total team effort , said Coach Patterson. Leading the Panther pack was Eric Beck with a .552 batting aver- age and 5 homeruns. Leading the de- fense was Larry Yokeley, who ended his season with a perfect pitching record of 8-O.
