Distributive Education Clubs of America Ledford's 1982- 1983 chapter of the Distributive Education Clubs of America consist of forty-six hard working and business-minded students who are pre- paring for a career in the future. To finance their many activities and projects, the chapter sold candy and operated the school store. On October 5, 1982, the DECA chapter attended the District 5B Leadership Conference at Bartlett Yan- cey. Patty johnston ran for office placing third in the interview. Dean Crayton was elected vice-president of the DC-VECA. Also during October, Kay Willough- by was elected Miss DECA for the 1982-83 school year. The club honored National DECA Week during Feb- ruary 15-20, 1983. This was recognized by posters and bulletin boards around the school. The club par- ticipated during American Education Week by giving a breakfast for the faculty members. DECA Members also participated in a Crime Prevention Project at the High School and in the community. The DECA banquet was held in the spring of the year to honor DECA students and their bosses. They are greeted by the cheerful faces of members of the Bus Driver's Club, who are waiting pa- tiently to take them home. Each driver is re- sponsible for transporting approximately for- ty students to and from school each day, a job which takes maturity and dedication. The club attended a Defensive Driver Course in Thomasville on December 9. They also ordered jackets with the bus driver's emblem on them. At Christmas the club held a party at one of the members house.
