Band The stadium was packed with screaming fans as the song We Got The Beat filled the air. lt was the first football game of the season and the Marching Panth- ers were making their debut for the 82-83 school year. The Panthers began getting their show together when the percussion and Band Front attended band camp in july. They were joined in their work when the rest of the band began night practice in the first week of August. After weeks of hard practice, the 127 member band performed at 8 out of IO football games. As well as the football games, the band also partici- pated in 4 marching competitions and received a rating of excellent at each one. At each of these com- petitions the majorettes received first place. The drum majors received a first place at the last marching com- petition. The Marching Panthers performed in the Lexington Veterans Day Parade and in two competition parades in Mooresville and High Point. They closed their mar- ching season with a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia where they participated in another parade competi- tion. The concert season began with two Christmas con- certs, followed by a competition concert in Asheboro. They also attended the Davidson County Music Fes- tival and closed out the year with several other spring concerts. X l38 Band X it 'gf'-ty:
