' This year, with the help of a very enthusiastic and hard- working staff, we have tried to compile all the happenings of our senior year so that in years to come, we may all look back to a year that was filled with cooperation anda winning spirit, a year that should recall all our high school career for many years to follow. We, the editors, wish to express the thanks of the entire staff to the administration, faculty, and student body for their helps and encouragement to us. May 'THE LECOMPTE always serve to remind you of your happy high school days, and always signify a job as one of honest effort and stability. Carolyn Butler and Annette Boone EDITORS Zedcaffon All too true was the message received on Saturday, July 7, 1956 that Lieutenant Samuel W. Wilson was missing on a training flight from his base in Hawaii. Subsequent messages verified that Sammie had been killed in a crash of his plane on Friday, July 6, on a mountainside just a few miles from his base. It is not our intent no attempt to eulogize Sammie here for his life was its own eulogy. lt is our purpose to besnow honor where honor is due. Sadly, but with firm resolve, we dedicate the 1957 edition of The becomte to the memory of Sammie wilson, and con- secrate ourselves to carry on the ideals of love for om fellowman and devotion to duty which so typified him.
