'Q QMERS QF , OR GANIZA TI 0 PROJECTS The Future Farmers of America was very active in the 1972-'73 school year. The money- making projects included the sale of insulated vests and co-sponsoring, along with David Loh- meyer, the trap shoots held during the fall. Picking up trash, putting up street signs for the city, and selling concessions at Frankie Wise's sale were some more of the F,F.A. 's numer- ous activities. The Future Farmers also added three more 3rd place trophies to their collec- S The F F A have won seven trophies in the last two years. The most hilarious activity was sponsoring the Donkey :ball game I 1: 'U - ff Z-H .Ji The Kayette motto is Love, Laugh, Lift. Through numerous projects of sharing with each other and with people who needed help, the Kayette girls learned a little more about leadership, reliability, courtesy, respect and service. Kayettes camped out, collected for the Kansas Children's Service League, adopted an Indian family, provided a football games nursery and sponsored an all school Valentine's party. They at- tended unit conference at Williamsburg and sent officers to regional conference at Cherokee Southeast. Two girls attended Leadership Camp at Rock Springs in the summer in preparation for their second 1000-point year. s The FBLA chapter started the year by sponsoring a Halloween Parade for pre-schoolers through fourth ' 'mam 5 ? A U T U R E USINESS EADERS MERICA H? Ax . , P 7 W grade. Two prizes were given to each class. The chapter sponsored a Walkathon in November and raised dollars for the March of Dimes fight against birth defects. The FBLA chapter of Lebo was repre- sented very well at the Regional Convention February 10 and at the State Convention March 29-30, where they won many outstanding awards. Lebo's parliamentary procedure team will represent Kansas at the National Convention in Washington D.C. in June. The Chapter ended the year by sponsoring the Easter egg hunt and Easter Hat Contest for the lower elementary students. It was enjoyed by all. The Student Council's main function is to be a service to the student body and community. This year the Council thinks they have succeeded in both cases. The 13 members of the Council and two students from the student body collected for Jerry Lewis's, Shamrocks for Dystrophy. The Council collected S116 for this cause. As a learning aid for the Council Joyce Hutchinson, Connie Evans, Bill Allegre, and Sherie Small attended a Student Council workshop for leadership. Student Council sponsored a Christmas party with an old-fashioned hay rack ride and a dance afterwards. Gifts from the exchange were given to the Salvation Army. Council held a STUCO day to find out how the students felt about Council and ways it ould improve. Many students deserve to be recognized for the hard work on projects and in organizations. Student Council alt they should be awarded for their leadership. A student of the year award was presented to the boy and girl who had one a great deal for our school this year. 61
