SENIURS 573 BACK ROW: Steve Jones, Randy Hanks, Connie Evans, Cynthia Johnson. THIRD ROW: Ronnie Stephens, Tony Botkin, Earl Rice, Debra Botkin, Richard McCormick, Mike Booth, Russell White. SECOND ROW: Gail Ben- It was the glorious fall of '61--a brand new era had just begun. The school bell rang--the walls bulged wide When twenty-five beginners rushed inside. They looked at their teacher with a toothless grin, Then at each other when she said, Let's begin. They struggled with sounds from A through Z. They learned to count 1-2-3- Writing the letters was no easy task, and learn to read--they accomplished at last. The year was so filled with joys to share, the time flew by quickly and they climbed the first stair Their footsteps were tiny--they all looked so small As they entered their new room at the end of the hall. More drilling, more learning, mastering word after word And before they realized, they had entered the third, Fourth, fifth, sixth--the years seemed to fly Then twenty-two happy youngsters entered Junior High. ton, Doug Smith, Debra Carr, Chris Combes, Gary Knight, Mrs. Norris. FRONT ROW: Nancy Zink, Gail Evans, Cindy Freund, Tina Fleming, Steve Houser, Craig Ellis. Parties, cheerleaders, ball games or test Whatever the challenge, they gave it their best. Two more years of study, two years to progress Then the grade teachers wished them, the Best. E Just four years ago they wished high school would begin And twenty-four little freshmen did enter in. All sorts of privileges they believed to be theirs Until they met the teachers face to face on the stairs. Now things will be different, they're leaving the nest, And the dear, faithful teachers have earned a rest. They are sending them out to a world of confusion Hoping each will settle in a field of good choosing. School days have been grand! Things were such fun! Now the solo flights have just begun. May the sailing be pleasant, and clouds just a few To make beautiful tomorrows for each one of you. Written by Nadine Lowman
