JAMES PHILLIPS Instrumental music includes band, stage band, woodwind ensembles, and brass choir. The high school band covers as much different music as possible in two semesters time, including popular, show tunes, marches, and serious music. MARYANN RASTATTER Buenos dfas. iCcfmo esta'usted? These are the familiar phrases which ema- nate each morning from the east end of the second floor. It is there that Mrs. Rastatter conducts her classes in elementary and intermediate Spanish where sophomore, junior, and senior students are engaged in learning something about Spain's language and culture. Students have a chance to experience all types of music. Stage band plays another important role-jazz. Being of American heritage, jazz is also emphasized, so a student may learn some of the music that grew up with this country. The wood- wind ensembles and brass choir are important because it is easier to learn about one's playing through small group participation. The student will also find greater development through these mediums. A music theory class is in existence. In it, ear-training, music history, score reading, and conducting are touched upon.
