W Weekends, Wally, Weather Weekends were made for Michelob . . . and they always start on Thursday night. If there was ever a household name at the Valley it ' s Wally. This fun, loving per- son can be found at or is controlling the College Center desk. He is often decked out in a bright orange jacket and is always talking about the Flyers. Annville ' s weather is as erratic as a percolator. One day you ' re in short sleeves; the next in a heavy coat or under an umbrella. It changes at precisely the wrong time. Sudden rain storms appear only when class is a must and turns the quad into a lake and several swamps. People soon get tired of frostbite and sogginess: sunny spring days are greeted with exhilaration and a lot of bare skin, thus improving the scenery 1 00%. X Extra-Curricular, X-Rated This letter was tough to fill, so I took the liberty that comes with the job and decided to cheat. The Valley does have many extra curricular activities ranging from the yearbook to the Ice Hockey Club. If you spend four years here and say there isn ' t anything to get involved in, that isn ' t anyone ' s fault but your own. (See: Nightlife) The old saying is that pictures speak a thousand words — this goes double for the Astor. 15

U Upperclassmen, Ultimate To the right is an example of the typical upperclassmen. For some reason this individual looks very similar to the typical freshman. (See: Freshman) The latest craze on campus is Ultimate or frisbee football. Instead of studying on a Sunday afternoon, everyone takes to the A-field and tosses a frisbee. Competi- tion is fierce and the stakes are high, but everyone has a great time. V Vacations, Vandalism, Valentine We love when they come and hate when they go. In the fall we live for Long Weekend and in the spring we just about die until the arrival of Spring Break. The ironic thing about all this is that we can ' t wait to come back at the end of summer vacation. Russia has communism, Spain has facism, and the Valley has vandalism. The art of destruction is not only prac- ticed by the Red Avenger and his trusty can of spray paint, but even some Row- dies go beyond gentle fun and destroy a couple of lampposts and bathrooms, A new tradition at the Valley is the elec- tion of a freshman Valentine Queen. The first queen was Sue Newman however, Scott Mailen stole the crown and decided to take all of the honors. 14

Besides offer- ing the best stromboli and beer in town, the relaxed atmosphere is a great change from the high strung tensions of good old LVC. Once again, you need wheels to get there. If you go on a Friday night the place is bound to be filled up by the Val- ley. Z Zany, Zero Since none of my photographers took any pictures of Your Place, I ' ve devoted the photos on this page to all the zany, weird things we have all done as students of the Valley. I ' m sure I have missed a few things, but this will give you a chance to reminisce. Zero is the average of that pop test grade, plus the number of dates last month, plus the balance in the checking account. It ' s the temperature when you have a flat tire on your first date at the Valley, and the score with the girl when you at last show up. Zexoes are like holes in your socks, they ' re round, and show up when you hate them most.
