Under the direc- tion of Wayne Fox, the band has per- formed in many high schools as well as in their concert debut at Moore College of the Arts in Philadelphia. This year the band successfully com- pleted its second annual week-long tour in January, traveling from New York through Pennsylvania to Maryland. On February 9, the band performed their twelfth annual campus concert featuring Cecil Bridgewater as guest trumpeter from the Thad Jones-Mell Lewis Orches- tra. Competing in both the Classboro Jazz Festival and Eastern States Jazz Festi- val at Quinnipiac College in Connecticut, the band has again brought home excel- lent ratings. — BK JAZZ BAND — W. As a result, the usual spring tour stayed in the area instead of traveling north, south, or west; and the singing season was extended after school ended for one week of intense practice and three weeks in Europe. Even though many things went wrong during the Euro- pean tour, everyone will surely live a richer life because of what they saw and lived through. There will be mem- ories of the long border waits and the singing done while waiting; memories of the food and a new insight into that wonderful American product, Coke; memories of all the tours, the tour guides, and the bus drivers; memories of people from the somberness of Leipzig, E. Germany to the gaiety of Rudesheim, W. Germany; and finally memories of the concerts. No one will forget the melting together of two peoples in a standing room only auditorium in Prague as we sang for the Czechs and they returned a concert for us. Nor will the thunderous foot stamping showing the audience ' s avid appreciation for our concert at the Mozarteum in Salzburg be easily forgotten. This was the first such venture by the choir and most of us can be grateful it happened in 1973 and not in ' 74 or ' 75. It was quite a season! P.S. Thank-you Chamber Orchestra. 151 MJ mb - P — , — . — , — „__ . .. ■ T, ! CHAPEL CHOIR — UPPER LEFT: Row 7: S. Heister, V. Hancock, E. Briggs, M. Meek, B. Dunn, L. Huber, M. Lockner, M. Gallant, S. Lentz (Co-Capt.) 191 Football Has Up-Down Season The Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchman 1972 football team had an excellent team despite its 4-5 record. It was a team of 6 All MAC selections and many bright freshman prospects. The defensive front was solid, the best in the conference as confirmed by the selection of defensive tackles, Steve Honus Wagner and Jim Jumbo Kiernan as all MAC along with linebacker, Jim latesta. The secondary was bolstered by Walt Frankowski, all MAC defensive back. The young offense holds a bright prospect for the future. Bob Pembleton will hold down the center of the line after his surprise selection as all MAC. But the offense will miss George Schwartz, all MAC tight end. 192 Row 1: O.K. Reed (coach, E. Boekel, S.
