Pep Assemblies » Q) 2 E Q) 0 a Q) a. Mr. Jordan as King Nighty-Night, streakers, and class competition all became a part of that fun-filled forty-five minutes known as a Pep Assembly. Sponsored by the Varsity Cheerleaders, the assemblies were always a highlight for the week, pepping up crowds before the Friday home games. Rally Queen Kathy Penfold did a fan- tastic job of leading the student body in new yells and creating enthusiasm among the ranks. Funny skits added luster as well as amunsement to the assemblies. Generally set up to honor a particular sport, some assemblies varied from the ordinary by presenting a candid look at college choirs, jazz bands or performing arts groups. Guest speakers and presen- tations were sometimes offered by classes to inform the Student Body of various happenings. Pep, enthusiasm and information were the keywords behind Pep Assemblies. Mr. Page welcomes the incoming freshmen. Susan Salisbury tries to figure out what Joanne VanVeen finds so amusing. Shari Buchannan dares you to have spirit

f cot Funky Friday Funky Friday was the day set aside to be funky. Every event from Halloween to Easter was celebrated by dressing up in an appropriate manner. Randomly through- out the year, Fridays were assigned a particular kind of funk (suck as Funky Hat Day, Funky Glasses Day, etc...), and the entire Student Body was invited to par- ticipate and show spirit for their class. On special Fridays, judges were chosen to pick the best costumes. Participation was the key as students tried to out do each other in creating the funkiest garb. Mike Potter flies through the halls with the greatest of ease. Ms. Peg Rees wonders how many times she has to go through it. Next step ... Mr. America . . . what a “ghoul’ guy! 28
