Winter Formal December sixteenth was a Winter Wonderland for many girls as they picked their favorite guy and S attended the Winter Formal. “White Christmas was the theme of the pageant which boasted six O princesses from the Senior Class. |j Midway through the celebration, Queen Traci Klavano, escorted by V , Mike Potter, was crowned to reign over the festivities. Princess Jennifer Moseman, Escort Kevin Tucker; Princess Dixie Dirks, Escort Gil Hartl; Princess Triesa Zehner, Escort Jim Aho; Princess Laurie Evans, Escort Craig Carroll; Princess Shirley Ditterick and Escort Richard Alexy made up the rest of the court. Music was provided by the rock group “Orange.” The Winter Formal is a Senior Class sponsored event, and members of this group provided refreshments, decoration and fun for all who attended. Jim Kerr and Julie Prior sit to enjoy the crowd.

r Winter Play TO £ Q C Dewey Frederick became alcoholic, Deanna Glaser went temporarily insane and Ruth Kerr’s “mother” died. Why did these tragic changes overcome these and many other students of LUHS? Research into their after-school hours showed that these dedicated students were changing their personalities to get into their parts for the Winter Play, “The Drunkard.” “The Drunkard,” directed by Mrs. Susan Hamer with student director, Susan Salisbury, got off to a late start when rain and snow plagued the first week of rehear- sals. But with the help of a few weekend rehearsals and sincere cast members, lost time was made up, and the play opened on schedule, February 13th through the 15th. First performed in 1844 to aid the tem- perance movement, “The Drunkard’s” per- formance here at LUHS aided the students The fiendish villian (Joe Smith) is rewarded by hisses and boos from the audience. 20
