HEP All ERS UF AMEHIIIX-l The Future Farmers of America is a non- profit, non-political organization of volun- tary membership designed to take its place along with other organized agencies for improvement of country life. The primary aim of the Future Farmers of America organization is the development of agri- culture leadership, cooperation, citizen- ship, and patriotism. It is designed to suplement training opportunities for boys who are progressive toward the goal of establishment in a farming business. Tennessee was the twenty-seventh char- tered state. The Greengale Chapter of Lebanon High School is sponsored by Mr. Hugh Evans, vocational agriculture teacher. The four grades of membership are: Green Hand, Future Farmer, State Farmer, and American Farmer. The officers for the year are: President, Hugh Gwynn, vice president, Ben Mid- gett, secretary, David Robinson, treasurer, W. D. Purnell, reporter, Raymond Hun- ter, watch dogs, Ralph Sloan and Chester Hall. Miss Phyllis Purnell is the club's Queen and her attendants are Mildred Ramsay and Martha Jean Johnson. The Future Farmers own a movie pro- jector and sponsor ten shows per year. They enter the fat cattle show in Nash- ville each year. This club sponsors the selling of ice cream, candy, and cold drinks during the lunch period. They sponsored a waste paper drive and invested 370,000 in war bonds. Their projects totaled 377,000 worth of foodstuff. The climax of the year was the annual father and son banquet, h eld at the Chamber of Commerce and attended by the Queen and her attendants.
